Job Summary
The Field Engineer II is responsible for implementing, supporting, and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure and technology solutions across multiple locations. This role assists with network architecture, security compliance, system upgrades, troubleshooting, and business continuity initiatives while ensuring optimal performance, availability, and reliability of IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, upgrade, and support enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructure and network technologies.
- Install, configure, monitor, and maintain network hardware, software, and communication systems.
- Provide onsite and remote technical support for hardware, software, networking, and end-user technology solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving routers, switches, firewalls, telecommunications systems, and network connectivity.
- Monitor network performance, uptime, and availability to ensure reliable operations.
- Assist with network architecture design and implementation following industry best practices and security standards.
- Support IT projects, system migrations, technology rollouts, and infrastructure enhancements.
- Perform network device administration, configuration management, and maintenance activities.
- Implement and support end-user equipment, printers, multifunction devices, and peripheral technologies.
- Participate in change management activities and execute planned IT changes with minimal business disruption.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain network documentation, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Provide on-call support as required and respond to critical incidents.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
- 4–6 years of experience in network engineering, field engineering, or related technical support roles.
- Experience supporting enterprise networking environments and distributed infrastructures.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and network troubleshooting.
- Experience with network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and telecommunications systems.
- Knowledge of structured cabling, fiber optics, rack installation, and cable management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and common operating systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Cisco, Microsoft, Meraki, VMware, or equivalent.
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Knowledge of MPLS, telecommunications circuits, and enterprise WAN technologies.
- Experience supporting multi-site environments and large-scale infrastructure deployments.
